Maya Escueta is a Researcher at American Institutes for Research. Her research focuses on using experimental and quasi-experimental methods and economic evaluations to evaluate the impact and costs of policies and programs aimed at improving the well-being of families and children living in poverty.

Maya holds a PhD in Economics and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, a Master's in Public Policy from Duke University, and a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Columbia University. She is a John Jay Scholar (Columbia University) and University Scholar (Duke University), both awarded for interdisciplinary achievement.
