Katie Pullom is a Ph.D. candidate in Education Policy at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education.  Her research focuses on examining how outside resources and systems of support that complement education can mitigate the adverse effects of childhood poverty and how these pathways can lead to increased human capital and social mobility among children from low-income communities.

Katie is a pre-doctoral fellow with the Institute of Education Sciences. She holds a M.Ed. from Pace University and a B.S. in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before joining the program, Katie served as the policy director for the Alabama House Democratic Caucus helping to develop the legislative agenda and to provide policy recommendations for the legislative session. She is also a former public school educator who taught high school chemistry and physics.
